District News: Letter from Dr. Spence to Parents, Guardians, and Community Members

Utica City School District
Office of the Superintendent
June 27, 2025

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members,

As we conclude the 2024-2025 school year, I want to take a moment to thank you for your unwavering support of the Utica City School District. Your partnership has played a critical role in helping us move our district forward, strengthen our schools, and provide our students with greater opportunities for success.

This year, we have made measurable progress on many fronts-from expanding academic support through the Raiders' Extended Day Program, to launching the "Utica Reads" literacy initiative, to investing in critical upgrades in career and technical education, technology, and school safety. These efforts, along with many others, are outlined in the attached document, UCSD District Wins 2024-2025, which highlights some of our key accomplishments under a unified vision.

I am proud of the momentum we've built together-and even more hopeful about what lies ahead. While there is still work to do, we now have the foundation, the talent, and the collective will to make lasting change for the children of Utica. Thank you for entrusting us with your children and for standing with us as we work to ensure every student is prepared for a strong future. I wish you and your family a safe, joyful, and restful summer, and I look forward to welcoming everyone back in the fall for another productive and inspiring school year. #UticaUnited

Warm Regards,

ທ່ານດຣ Christopher Spence
